What a sales funnel is, and why a Shopify store needs one

Your product page tries to do everything at once. A funnel does one thing per page, and that's exactly why it sells more.

A normal store shows everything at once: the menu, other products, a search bar, a cart icon. That's great for browsing, and not so great when someone clicks your ad for one specific product.

A sales funnel is a short path with one job per page: convince, collect payment, offer one extra, say thanks.

Why it works

The classic flow

  1. Sales page: the problem, your solution, proof and a clear offer.
  2. Checkout: short, with bundles and a small order bump.
  3. Upsell: one related product, one click, no re-entering details.
  4. Downsell: a smaller version for people who said no.
  5. Thank you: confirmation and what happens next.

When a funnel isn't the answer

If people come to browse your whole range, keep them in your store. Funnels shine for one hero product, for paid traffic, and for launches and offers.
